Finistère North (C)
The most impressive and original area situated around Brest in the far west of Brittany is Finistère – the End of the World. The coastline is characterised by deep, fjord-like incisions called Aber, and hundreds of offshore islands. The heartland is packed with varying scenery such as the Armorique nature park and the forest of Huelgoat at the foot of the bare slopes of Mont-d’Arrée. Almost every village has an enclosed rectory with its Calvary testifying to the piety and pride of the Bretons.
