Côtes-d’Armor East (A)
To the east of the Côtes d’Armor the Emerald Coast stretches between Mont-St-Michel in the Ille et Vilaine district and Saint-Brieuc. Here imposing rocky outcrops alternate with beautiful bays concealing fine, light-coloured, sandy beaches. Beach resorts such as Saint-Cast, les Sables d’Or, Erquy, Le Val-André and also one of the most beautiful bird conservation areas in Brittany at Cap Fréhel can be reached via the coastal road. High above the banks of the Rance lies Dinan – one of the main Breton Towns. Many wonderful stately homes dating from a time when the Barbary Corsairs were still bringing their spoils to Saint-Malo may be found hidden away at the mouth of the Rance.
