The historic port of Concarneau was one of the most important Breton fortresses in the Middle Ages. The imposing walls of the "Ville Close" rise out of the sea and enclose the historic old town. Today the popular city is an important water sports centre with its typical restaurants and shops, museums and excursions, beaches, marina, sailing, surfing and diving schools.
